| Air Tightness Testing |

Brookvent are a BINDT approved Air tightness testing company, however, as a result of our experience in air movement we can bring to the air leakage testing and analysis an additional level of expertise.
Air tightness/leakage testing (some times called air pressure testing) is now mandatory for compliance with new build regulations in the UK and Ireland. However, most good builders are not looking at air tightness testing as simply another piece of red tape, but rather an opportunity to understand the quality of their build and identify the key areas for improvement. A good air tightness rating will assist in achieving a higher final SAP Rating. |

For the self builder it is a means of ascertaining areas in the build that can be improved/enhanced. Whilst the dwelling may achieve its design air tightness rating it is important that any improvements that can be identified by the air tightness and smoke test are made before the building is handed over. As most leakage tends to be a combination of minor issues, they are usually rectified by the builder at little or no cost.
For compliance with new build regulations each design of house is required to have this mandatory air tightness testing. For Self Builders this means that their house will almost certainly need tested. For developers each house type on the development plus a representative sample set by building control will be required. For apartments the sample rate is usually higher. Ground, middle and top floors are all considered to be unique even if the floor plans are the same.
Brookvent air tightness testing is carried out to ATTMA TS1 Quality standards. We have full professional indemnity and site insurance. All engineers and visitors to site have CSR Health and safety cover.
This service is (currently) only available in Northern Ireland.
